Beta FAQ

Charity Record is currently in beta. We're targeting General Availability before in early December 2025.

Thank you for using it early! We won't charge during beta, and all of the core functionality is unlocked.

What's working

All core features are ready to use:

  • ✅ 7 donation types: Items, cash, mileage, stock & securities, vehicles, digital assets, art & collectibles
  • ✅ CSV import: Import your ItsDeductible history
  • ✅ CSV export: Export for TurboTax, TaxAct, or any tax software
  • ✅ FMV guide: 1,757 items based on ItsDeductible's 2025 FMV guide they released during their shutdown
  • ✅ Item auto-save: If you start adding an item donation and close the page, we'll save it for you to finish later on the same device
  • ✅ Year filtering: Track donations across multiple years
  • ✅ Tax estimates: See estimated tax savings based on your income
  • ✅ Impact and stats: See your donations summarized by type and year
  • ✅ Mobile friendly: The website works on mobile (native apps may come later)

What's coming soon

Features we're looking at adding after beta:

  • 📄 TXF export: Import to tax software such as TurboTax (Desktop)
  • 📊 PDF reports: Print-friendly summaries for you or your CPA
  • 🌐 HTML report: Web-viewable version of PDF
  • 🤝 Shared accounts: Track donations with your spouse or partner, or allow view-only access to your account
  • 📷 Photo uploads: Upload photos of your art & collectibles, items, or other donations
  • 📄 Receipt uploads: Upload receipts
  • 📄 Appraisal uploads: Upload appraisal
  • 📄 OCR: Scan receipts, auto-extract data
  • 🤖 AI assistance: Guess donation items from photos, smart categorization

What to expect during beta

You may encounter bugs. We test every release internally and with a limited subset of alpha testers, but real-world usage always finds edge cases. Please report issues!

Service may pause for maintenance or upgrades. We'll give advance notice where possible, but if we need to fix a bug or expand capacity, we may need to take the site offline briefly.

Features – and our roadmap – may change Your feedback will definitely shape the final product! If something is confusing or broken, tell us.

We respond within 24-48 hours. During beta, we're refreshing our mailboxes as quickly as we can. Use our contact form or email support@charityrecord.com, and we're eager to see how you're using Charity Record. Tell us what you like, and especially what you don't!

How to help

Your feedback makes Charity Record better:

  1. Import your ItsDeductible data - Verify the totals and organizations imported match what you expect (also check the number of donations, and if Charity Record understood the charities you've supported)
  2. Add 2025 donations - Test all the types of donations you plan to track (including our Digital Assets, Vehicles, and Art & Collectibles donations)
  3. Export and test - Make sure your exported CSV makes sense
  4. Report confusion - If something isn't clear, we'd love to know
  5. Tell us what's missing - What features would make us indispensable?
  6. Let us know if something breaks - We'll fix it as soon as possible!

We'll send a feedback survey, likely after Thanksgiving (late November or early December).

Known limitations

Features we're deferring until after launch:

  • TXF/PDF exports - CSV works with all major tax software for now
  • Receipt, appraisal, photo uploads - Coming in a future paid tier
  • Mobile app - The website already works on mobile, native apps may come later
